I Have Earth!

Well, here we go...this is the Royal 'we' as I still haven't done anything except keep nurturing my well-travelled potatoes and plants.  However, my friend's son, Danny, has been beavering away with a rotavator.  Here he is preparing for action...

...and here's what happened next...

...here's a great close-up...

...and here's the result so far:

Thanks to the man who loaned the rotavator, and especially...

...Thank You, Danny!!!

Arial View

Got back last night following another two day pre-move trip to Devon.  My courtyard garden looks like the Battle of the Somme owing to the fish pond that is being created and the house is still a work in progress.  Consequently still no work done on my allotment.  However, I managed a sneaky ten minutes up there just to remind myself it really exists and is ready and waiting, and whilst buying laminate flooring managed to grab a bag of main crop seed potatoes.  It won't have escaped people's notice that the second earlies are still nestling in egg boxes in my woodshed, but at least they're in the right county now and plants have a way of catching up.  I'm back down there in a couple of days for good and hopefully within a week or so should start work in earnest.  In the meantime here's an arial view - not taken by the North Devon Coastguard but my friend Steve who I assume was on top of one of the diggers they've had clearing round the communal shed.  You can spot my bit easily - it's the uncultivated one at the bottom, next to the grass.  The one with no shed and just a solitary compost bin waiting for me to fill it.

First Visit and First Plants.

Well...the potatoes have now been taken to Devon.  They are still in their egg boxes but are at least in the right county now.  On the way down one of them occasionally broke loose, like a cannonball shooting through the car, and they really need to go in...but I'm sure they'll be fine.

I saw my plot...that's it above, behind the red armchair.  The people in the foreground are some of my fellow 'allotmenteers' who, hopefully I will meet soon.  they are pictured clearing out the communal 'shed'.

Speaking of sheds, I will be ordering one in the next few days.  I have signed my contract so it's all official now!  In a couple of days I'm going back down and taking the following:

Strawberries

Rhubarb

Various flowers

Onions & garlic

Sweet Peas
Hopefully they will survive the journey and it won't be too long before I can plant them.  One other thing...here's a picture taken by my friend Steve.  it's good to know that the North Devon Coastguard are keeping an eye on things...
